The Australian Hymn Book
The Australian Hymn Book was published in 1977, and was the culmination of almost ten years' work by an ecumenical committee, chaired by A. Harold Wood, intent on producing a new, contemporary and inclusive hymn book that could be used in worship by the varied Christian congregations across Australia.

Head of the church, our risen Lord,
who by thy Spirit dost preside
o'er the whole body, by whose word
we all are ruled and sanctified:

our prayers and intercessions hear
for all thy family at large,
that each in his appointed sphere
his proper service may discharge.

in whom all fullness dwells above,
may thy whole church united be,
and edify itself in love.
